Design: To prepare sRNAs, the extracted total RNA was purified from denaturing polyacrylamide gel and sequentially ligated to the adapters for next generating sequencing (NGS) according to the manufacturer s instructions (Illumina Inc.) before sequencing. The RNA quality was assessed on an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer (Agilent Technologies) (Masotti and Preckel, 2006). The barcoded libraries were then sequenced on Illumina Genome Analyzer Miseq (1X50 run) for 50 cycles to produce 3-5 million reads per library.
